A Minecraft Father's Day

Last Sunday was Father's Day in Australia.

Attie and Max wanted to give their stepdad a present, but shopping is an overwhelming experience for them. And they wanted to give him a card, but expressing themselves and handwriting are both things they find tough.

The solution?  They created a new Minecraft world just for him, as an interactive card.

After working on it for hours, they excitedly waited for him to get home and open it. He's as big a Minecraft nut as they are, so he was thrilled that his surprise was waiting for him on his laptop!

When he spawned in the new world, a red carpet was rolled out waiting for him. As he walked along, it became apparent that the carpet was a tongue leading into a giant building shaped like the head of Notch. Once inside he had to perform a series of challenges to knock down the outer wall of the building, revealing his name in mile-high flaming letters at the entrance to a gigantic roller-coaster ride.

His verdict?  Best. Card. EVER.

I love that they came up with such a creative solution. It was also great to watch them spend so much time working on it together, collaborating in a way that they never would in real life.

Working hard together to build the roller coaster

Now the only problem is how to display it on the mantle...
